Flea Market Studio

Love is in the Air...

Valentine's day is almost here...... I love everything about it! Chocolate, my favorite color is Red, Chocolate , vintage Valentines cards, did I mention Chocolate??? I was in the mood to create some fun Valentine's Decor for my home.. Here is what I came up with......

This Giant Glitter Heart from Joanne's  was asking for a make-over. This vintage scrapbook page of this little girl reminds me of the Queen of hearts! The Vintage playing card has my little family's names on it.....I decided to hang it on the back door........

The next project was this 99 cent store heart:

 

It had nothing on it and was hanging from a cheap red ribbon. I changed it to pink seam binding, added the image from my collection, buttons, a paper flower and some text........

and the last one was this: Another cheap 99cent find that needed an extreme make-over. It had a cheap boa and some hearts hanging from it. I added the flower, ribbon, vintage lace, and Jewels with tag of the sweetest fairy.   

Off to make some more goodies! Hope my hubby gets the hint that the day is on it's way!-hugs

Art Friends are the Best!

In the Mail today from my greatest Art Pal Mendy. We met on 2Peas almost 2 years ago, maybe three?? She is talented and the sweetest person! Thank you friend! Finally spent some good Quality time with my little family this weekend! Long walks to the park and just doing nothing...... Sunday's are the best!  Speaking of walks... here is my new obsession:

Which one you say??? Well both! I got the Zune for Christmas..... I must have spent 3 hours going back and forth with the videoipod and the Zune... I think what sold me was the screen. I love it!! And Right after Christmas we started watching 24... Ohhhh man are we addicted! I am only on the 3rd Season....... but they are downloaded on to my Zune to accompany me on my walks...... Other videos on my Zune: The Office Season 3 and the British version and The Secret (amazing video).

I had one litttle trip to the Antique Mall and Thrift Store and here are my new finds from the weekend:                                            

Isn't she a beauty??!     Love all the detail on the lid! I spent 5 dollars on her.

Let's see the Vintage Candy Box was 5 dollars,  vintage sheet music 1 dollar each, the birds 50 cents, glitter both were 1 dollar, the ribbon 2 spools were 1 dollar, vintage envelopes were 50 cents, the flowers were 2 dollars, the rosary was 99 cents and the pin was 50 cents.........                        

A beautiful Disaster!

Why do I work like this?? I can never get this Studio under control! I think its because when I clean, I dont want to mess it up again. Is this what happens to you?? I feel like I work better this way.... all the junk is out in the open for me to play! Well I spent this week getting it to look some what organized... I am getting rid of so many things, and a Flea Market Studio garage sale is comming soon!

Flea Market finds today........

During my daughter's Ballet class yesterday I stopped by my favorite vendor.  I found a vintage Baby book for $1, an antique frame without the glass for 75 cents,  a victortian compact for $1,  a bird cage 50 cents, free vintage lace,  2 yards of the cutest cloth that has hens and baby chicks for 75 cents, and a bunch of vintage baby cards for 50 cents each........ Fun stuff for my little girl's baby books! Speaking of which I came home inspired to work on one last night here are a  couple of pages:

The Sun is shinning!

After days of clouds and  rain, Scottsdale is bright and sunny! Still cold, but perfect weather for a good long run.... that later. Working on the rest of my Swaps this morning........   Here are my Valentine ATC's :

They are all little antique lace pockets that hold little Valentine tags and a single flower.....

They all get mailed out today in these:

They are little fabric pouches that hold the ATC's and some chocolate!

They were fun to make, it helps that I like Valentine's Day!

This weekend I am teaching at The Frenzy Stamper. Ive been Teaching there for going on 2 years..... The owner Debbie is the sweetest! Funny story, I used to drive very far for Rubber stamps and Art supplies, until one day a friend asked if I ever go to the Stamp store near my house. What Stamp store near my house??? Well come to find out it is only 1 mile away! I went in and was in Stamp Heaven! Debbie is always cheerful and the store is stocked with the so many stamps! Debbie is  always up to date on the newest, coolest Art supplies. If you ever are in Scottsdale, you need to stop at The Frenzy Stamper! Next month she has Mary Jo McGraw, and the very talented Kelly Kilmer. The class I am teaching on Saturday is Loves Little Instruction Book:

Worked on some Art challenges last night...  I signed up for Cabinet of Curiosities Challenge on Artsy Mommas blog. The challenge was Explore. Here is what I came up with:

Its a great day for some Art!

Its a rainy, cold day here in Arizona. Well last night I got a little of the bug myself. Friday is my Art nerd Night.... went to bed at 8:30 that is very unusual for me.   Lia one of my fave Art girls and I stared a little challenge on our Friday's, but missed it last night, sorry Lia! By the way she tagged me that rascal! 5 weird things about me........ only 5???  here they are, the scary 5:

1.  I am obsessed with clean floors! The whole house can be dirty,  that is but the floors! I vacuum everyday and clean my floors on my knees with a bucket and a sponge.  I don't think mops clean very well.

2. I always leave food on my plate. Every time! Even if there is one bite left, I cant get myself to eat it. Its like I am leaving food for the gods ......... like my cousin says.

3. I am the worst at putting lids on things...... If you look in my refrigerator most of the things don't have the lids on tight or they are not even on!

4. I can only run in Nike running shoes..... Ive tried others, and every time I have gotten an injury... that, and in my mind I run faster in them!

5. This is the one that my husband points out...... I love "Little House on the Prairie". You cant get me to watch a full show without doing something, but when little house is on I am sucked in and stop and watch the whole show every time!...... OK nerdy but weird?? back me up little house people!

I need therapy yesterday I know! I am sending this out in the mail today.....

For my amazing Art friend Hope . Who do you think made my Banner? Well not me! I cant believe she offered, and boy did I need help! Thanks friend!

Anyone who knows me knows I love to go Flea Market and Thrift Store shopping. I find the best stuff at my regular routes! The Thrift stores I love most are the ones that are in the worst part of town.. The ones that are in the best part, always have newer things and the prices are always much higher. I collect vintage English tins with lids to store all my buttons, seam binding, trims,  silk flowers and little objects. I also look for ephemera and old children's books. The last time I went I scored on these:

A vintage paper cutter for $4.50 

Ive had such a hard time with paper cutters! I always liked the one at the school I work at... which happens to be the same one I found! I don't even have to replace the blade, it is in excellent condition! Score!

A crafty sewing machine for $8!

I was afraid to always use my good sewing machine on paper projects. I decided I need to have one just for junking and Art... I didn't want to spend alot of money on a new one........ I don't think I could have found a better deal! I even think it is better than my good one!

So thats it for today, I have so many projects on my plate........ Time to create! And if you haven't already, you have to visit Jenny! This girl is amazing and she is as Sweet as her cupcakes!

This little girl kept the family up till 4 am!

Stomach bug hit my rascal at 11 pm last night and didn't end till today. needless to say we didn't get any sleep last night. I don't work well without sleep! Poor thing told me "I have a headache in my tummy" right before she went to bed. We kept her on the couch with a towel underneath her and let her watch movies on her portable DVD player. The pink tray she is holding is her in case of emergency tray (lots of those last night). Don't you hate it when they are sick?  On another note, I think she is starting to get crafty like mommy, she said she had an idea of what she wanted to make daddy...... here is what she came up with..........

Art Journal Obsession.........

  Ive been into Art Journals for a while now. I work on a couple at a time. Styles are anything from Vintage to Funky.  I find Vintage Baby Books or Vintage Scrapbooks and add paints, ephemera, photos, all sorts of art mediums and I alter them to death !   I also have been known to hand make my own Journals, these are the more funky ones, and take a while to make and if anybody knows me I am very impatient. Most of the time I have no theme to a Journal,  they are almost like scrapbooks all pages are different but all the pages have pictures. Most of my friends and family think they are too weird, but my Art friends understand! Thanks to all my Art friends out there who like my Crazy Art!

Worked on it all day...... and had some fun doing some Art. My favorite thing to do is do chores around the house while I have 3 or 4 projects on the table. I seem to work the best like this...... when I get stuck for Ideas, I walk away, do a chore and then come back and work on it again. Let's just say sometimes the chores dont get done!
Get wine involved, then nothing gets done! The little wings on the side is from Foofala. I sewed them together added a word, then distressed them a little. I have always admired Teresa McFayden, It happens to be one of her products from Foofala.... Thanks for the sweet words today!
