Going Green...........

Like my new Green Machine?? Well we know it's not green, but it is battery operated. Leo and Al would be so proud! My husband and I own a Auction and Consignment Business, well the other day he found a "smokin" deal on 2 Scooters. Ive been wanting one  for a while. After watching Inconvenient Truth, I decided to get serious about what Ive always believed in. That Movie freaked me out. My brother would also be very proud of me he is our "Tree Hugger" of the family. He is always preaching to me about Global Warming. Well dummy me, when I told my Husband that I was going to tell my brother about the things Ive been doing that were very "Green", he pointed out that Ive been doing this for a long time by Recycling! Oh ya, duh!Hubby putting a little trunk on the back so I could put Groceries and Mail to drive to the Post Office. This thing is so fun!!  We will see what will happen when it is 118 outside, if I really do want to go for that ride! What else? Well this pretty Rose is not from my Garden:

it is from a Teacher that I work with's Garden. Speaking of which did you know it was TEACHER APPRECIATION week? Well Ive been a Montessori School Teacher for over 15 years now. I work on Tuesday and Thursday only to pay for my Daughter's Tuition, I will probably be full time again come next year and love it so much. To all the Teachers out there I give you a big hug and a Thank you for being such inspiration to our Children! You deserve so much more than you will ever know! Also this is going out Tomorrow for our Spring Secrets Round Robin. Bye Bye

Well we all knew that I was a chocoholic, but this is ridiculous! I might as well face the fact that I am a addict! I went on a sugar detox for lets see 3 weeks! I was at my Thrift Store the other day and found a book Ive been wanting for a while now called  The Chocolate cake mix Doctor. Its been on the Christmas/Birthday list for a couple years now and everyone has overlooked it. Well I found it for 1.99, as I was standing in line... I was reading the book. I realized most of the cakes require a Bundt pan. So I got out of line and found one for 1.99, went back in line and I thought I saw a beautiful pink Pyrex bowl,(I am a sucker for Pyrex along with everything else), went back in line with the Bowl and the lady in front of me turns around and says " You forgot the milk, eggs, flour, sugar..." Ohh that cracks me up, something I would have said! Well I did come home today and made the yummiest cake!!! It has chocolate fudge, chocolate chips, and chocolate icing. If you don't know about this book, well let me tell you it is the easiest Cake book... all she does is use Cake mix and Doctor's it up! Here is a picture of my purchases and that scrumptious cake! I also am in Heaven right now over My Amazing Book that came home yesterday from Marylin. WOW I MEAN WOW! This book is going to Amaze you to say the least! Marylin, Kari and I did a Round Robin together and Wow was I touched at all the work these ladies put in my book! I used a Vintage book and gutted it, then bound it with vintage cloth, a vintage image, beeswax and Satin ribbon. I always have "homes" for my books they either come in tins or boxes. I cant leave them all alone. I decorated a box, totally inspired by Pam.  Then I just played played and played some more, then sent it to Marylin in which she played and sent it to Kari..... and it came yesterday and here it is for everyone to enjoy! Did I tell you??????

hello, How is everyone? Ive been a busy little bee this weekend. Nothing in particular just catching up on housework and boy I don't know about you, but it is hard keeping up a house! I don't even have a big house just a little one and if Idon't clean every couple of days, it gets pretty grimy! If there is one thing I cant stand to do it's ironing! I do not the have the patience and time...... and I have a hard time purchasing an expensive iron. My Mother on the other hand loves to iron and will spend hundreds on a iron and board! Well she bought me a 100 dollar iron last year and guess what??? I dropped it today and broke it! What did I do, well went over to Wallies and I found something more up my Alley......

The Classic Iron by Black and Decker! I love it! it is heavy and old-fashioned and so cool! No crazy gadgets and instructions......... wow! 24.95 yup, even a Flea Market Studio price!

I met her and her buddy Michelle when they took a class from me here in Phoenix and we went to a Antique Store and to lunch....... what sweet and inspiring ladies they are! I must say that all the ones on my sidebar are amazing Artist and people! So please check them all out! I went to one thrift store yesterday and scored on all of these:  a vintage Roll Book, a book of vintage receipts, 2 ledgers and a 1940 agenda book. I cant wait to play in them, but the only problem is I don't have the heart to ruin them! I also found vintage clothes pins and lace and rolled them and put them in a basket for my little shop...... another problem, I kind of just want to leave them like this ! Ive got to stop hoarding! what a problem! I had time to play in a book that Ive been working on for a Collaboration with Kari, Julie, Melissa and Cassondra! Wow what a group I tell ya! Well Hello........

What a sad week..... I cant believe how much one incident can affect so many lives! My neighbor went to school with a girl in the tragedy that unfolded at Virginia Tech.. she is so sad and so am I. I pray for those families that are forever changed.... It is hard to think about anything else when things like this happen. It has made me sad all week. Well, at least they are now focusing on the people that lost their lives and not that mad man who does not deserve an ounce of attention!! Ok, I am getting myself worked up again.. I seriously need to stop. I feel like in a little way it affects all of our lives don't you?  Well, I am focusing on other things now. The little postcards are what I have been working on this week. I spent the day outside because it was so nice! I am taking advantage of this weather before the heat! I will be crying later so for all of those who are back east I am sorry you are going through some cold weather! This is what I was looking at while I was eating my yummy salad:

My Mother would be proud! She has the biggest green thumb of anyone I know. I am terrible at keeping any plant alive! I can kill even a cactus and that is sad news to my Mom! So here Mom I think its rubbing off just a little! Ohh and how yummy is this salad dressing??? From Trader Joe's it is Cranberry Walnut Gorgonzola dressing!! I eat it with greens, spinach, candied nuts, grapes, goat cheese (but I sometimes put feta or crumbled blue cheese) all I can say is easy and Yum! Hope everyone is having a great Sunday (I know its Sunday afternoon, but hey my Blog keeps me happy!)

Just a Little give-away!

Well I think it's time for a little Flea Market Studio give-away! I was going to wait for my 100th sell on my Etsy, but it seems to have slowed down , right when I decided to do it! How funny is that??  I cant wait that long I am at 93, heck it could take a while! So if you post a little hello, I will pick the winner on Sunday! What else?? Ive had one of my best girlfriend in town for a little visit. I just miss my friends in Los Angeles so much! We had tons of good food, wine and great talks! She is not a Thrifty or Artsy girl at all.....! But our friend Amy Hanna is a very big inspiration and good friend to me! I showed her this picture of the two of us and made fun of that background in the photo! boy do we look like little girls! We were both such  trouble makers with our boys at that time, two rascals, hmmmmmm I wonder where My Daughter gets it from! This picture was taken in 1992......... where did the time go???? Well since I didn't get to go Thrifting with my friend, We went shoe shopping instead........ here are my new Kicks!I love them! As soon as that girl left today, I did sneak by and stop at 3 of my Thrift stores and here is what I found! I scored with Vintage fabrics today!! Yummy colors and some have velvet in them, also found more tins..... my collection is getting out of control with them! the tins were 99 cents each! I am also working on some of my old books, Ive put them down for a while and now are starting them up again, here is the cover of the book and some pages that I did last year..... That is about all for now!

Holiday hangover.....

Here is my little Family from Easter..... I am officially  all done with Holidays  today! Love them , but jeez how much sugar can one girl eat??? I was doing fine on my sugar detox for 3 weeks now!  My husband got a little creative and put whip cream in my coffee with chocolate eggs floating on top! Yum! I also don't want to see another egg till next year, candles are burning to get rid of the deviled-egg smell. It was fun though! Spent it with our neighbors. They really get into Easter, soo cute how she decorates and cooks up a storm! My neighbor  and I have become really close in the past year.. She is my M W F walking buddy. We talk about everything, it is like our counseling session. She is amazing! She is the bread winner in the home, she owns a Art Gallery in the Old part of Scottsdale. Her husband is Mr. Mom, he takes care of the 2 boys... the little one is almost 4 and thinks he is going to marry Darianne!  We have different Political views..... and don't get us started! We have been known to get into heated discussions! Got to love a Country were you can live right next to each other and have such different views and manage to get along! The other day we were walking and this perfect ten ran by us (she had to be around 20)I mean this young thing ran past us like nobody's business! all of a sudden the two of just started running, it was the funniest thing! We were so out of breath, we just stopped and rolled on the grass laughing so hard, saying to each other "who are we kidding, trying to chase 20!" ...... Good times! Anyways, here are a little bits of Easter, I really hope everyone had a Wonderful time! hugs!

Well Hello there!

Ohh have you ever just needed to slow down before the next storm? I think I needed it this week, I have had a little bit of much needed down time. Ohh so much to tell you! First my little finds!  Lots of vintage fabric lately! Those cute little Flashcards are my favorite find! only 75 cents...... lots of vintage greeting cards the whole pack under a dollar! the little pink vintage basket was 1 dollar it has metal handles on it, great to keep some supplies...  I also found these beauties..........

Ohhh are these Vintage Prom dresses just the Best! they were 8.95 each! What will I do with them? Heck I don't know, who cares! I love them!

That is what Ive been up to! This blogging thing connects you to new and old friends, isn't it funny how people just find you through just linking??? I am so grateful for that, people I haven't been in touch with and miss are finding me!! Yay!! Wow what a small world! this year I promise I would surround myself with happiness and its working........ I don't know about you, but I try to laugh at least a couple of times a day, mostly at myself. I fall allot I am clumsy very clumsy, I laugh at my husband (he has a dry sense of humor), I laugh at my daughter, she is hilarious! I also love dumb shows like the office and anything Will Ferrell does! My cousin , and I can just get on the phone and start laughing for no reason at all, and I am finding out that allot has to do with my laugh (thanks cuz!) here is a picture of her:  She is my best friend, my family, my biggest fan, my number one family reporter and my Hollywood connection! She lives in the heart of Los Angeles and her connections are amazing.... I know the scoop before it comes out in People magazine. The funny thing is, she could care less. I always try to get stuff out of her! She thinks I have no life wondering about these people in Hollyweird....... She calls me Scrapper-suburban mom. Its fun to go and visit and live like them for a little bit, but I don't know how she lives in the Heart of that crazy city. Wait till she has her own kids and the homeless guy is eying her child, lets see what she thinks about little Suburban Mom now! Just kidding cuz! Love you to bits! She is getting married in September any advice for planning a wedding?? Let me know, she is going crazy poor thing! Ok, off to get rascal at grandmothers house, I hope everyone is having a wonderful Friday!!!
