Writing from sunny Cali...........

Where have I been? Visiting My family and friends......... all over California. I realize how much I need to move back every time I come here. Then I am reminded why I moved away when I am on that freeway! Have so much to share......... I did get in to a night club the other night no problem! Went to Star Shoes in Hollywood....... funny spot, it looks like a shoe store from the outside! All I can say is we danced till it closed! The music was vintage funk and salsa! If you were not moving at least one of those toes, lets just say you are clinically dead! Went to breakfast at Mel's and just stared at the huge billboard of Mr. Depp across the street, wow! can I take this 50 foot poster home with me??? Went to Malibu for the best dinner ever! My friend Laurie can cook! Hoping to catch of glimpse of Mathew McConaughey a couple houses down, no such luck.... not even a little run on the beach with Lance ........... I will be back to peep it out for us, I was hoping I could get a picture to show you!  Yesterday went and met such a wonderful person Dede!! Ive been talking to her online and we have become friends... we met up with her and her adorable grandson at Disneyland! What luck! Dede and I hit if off like we have known each other for  years......... and get this... she is Mexican! Ive also thought of taking that grandson of hers home! Thank you friend! Great day at Disneyland, the rides were not long and the weather perfect! Dede went home at around 5:30 and I decided to go on one last ride with Darianne. Of course it had to be the longest line of the day........ 45 minutes... then right at the end , you know the part where they sing Zipedee Doo Da ........ (I don't ever want to hear that song again) We got stuck! Good thing it was light and airy in there because I am sooo claustrophobic........ Have you ever been stuck on a ride before? I mean really after 15 minutes why cant they just get us off? Finally after almost an hour they came and got us and walked out through a secret door, my daughter kept petting the rabbits as we were leaving and I kept telling her to do so because she will never get a chance to be that close again. Hope everyone enjoyed their Holiday weekend..... I will try to get that picture of those boys for us........... even if I have to camp out in front of that house!

Life comes at you fast.....

Feeling like a Master Card Commercial.... you know the funny ones Life comes at you fast? But part of the fast part isnt too funny. I mean really! Here is the list: A really good friend's Memorial ( he was 42), Last week of school, Ballet Recital, School recital, 2 Teacher work days, packages to be shipped, Family in town, Me and D leaving to LA for 2 weeks, working on book  Collaboration before I go, clean house....... and did I mention all while I am sick? Yikes! Los Angeles should be more fun than I thought, going to see Grandma and I am scared of seeing her, I want to keep it together. On the lighter side, my Brother and I are taking our cousin on a crazy-mini bachlorette night to clubs in LA. Boy do I miss these clubs! They were my stomping grounds back in the day. Sad thing is, I cant get us VIP anywhere anymore It hurts when you lose your mojo........ I thought I still had it , and tried to prove it to my friends at a club last year the guy looked at me up and down and told me to get back in the line...... and I said that line? (the VIP line) and he said "no, that Line"! Yup the line with over 30 people in it!! Oh well, I am sure one day Darianne will be getting her Momma and friends in! My brother can get us anywhere, he is the Super Star of the family so I am counting on him, but will laugh if they tell us to get in line! He is traveling to Europe with Barbara Striestand's Tour. He takes the pictures at her concert. Got us the best seats at the Staples Center in LA, Wow! I am also meeting up with new Friend Dede! I would hate to see my bill on the phone call we had today, cant wait to meet her in person and Check out Sweetpeas and Snapshots with her! Ive been to Suzi Finer's old store, and cant wait to check out this Store! Its National Wear your Apron day!

I joined the Flickr group APRONS!  wear aprons as fashion  . And today is National wear your apron day! I went to fish all of my aprons out of my closet and found 23! Obsessed, you think?? I think I was born in the wrong time. I love vintage, thrifty and Anthropologie aprons! I also love when someone makes their own. I made this little birdie apron for my daughter, not the whole apron, just added the birdie and lace. I am supposed to have some pictures of me wearing aprons all day long.... here are a couple......

Did I happen to mention I need a Life??I need a Life!

I was tagged the other day on 7 random facts about me.. I think this is one of them, I am obsessed with aprons along with every other Vintage thing! I am wearing shorts under the aprons I promise! Didn't we already do this? OK here are some more to amuse you....

1. I always start my runs listening to Journey's "Anyway you want it" and end them with Michael Bluble's "Home" It is a ritual I cant shake

2. My biological father was a famous singer in Mexico, I did not grow up with him but own all his records and Cd's

3. I adore Old people... they have so much Wisdom and so much to offer, we all can learn something from them!

4. I have 42 cousin's on my Mothers side alone... My abuelita had 11 children. And yes we are a Mexican/Catholic Familia

5. I love exotic Foods, my favorite is Japanese.. I could probably eat it everyday, if I did not enjoy... Vietnamese, Korean, Cuban, Mediterranean, etc......... I will try something once!

6. Before I was a Varsity Cheerleader in my High School, I was the Mascot.. It was a Big Seahawk (more like a chicken suit). I did this during my Freshman and Sophomore years. I just had to be on that field during The Varsity Friday Night games! Looking back I think I enjoyed this more!

7. I am double jointed on my elbows as you can tell on the picture above.I had a hard time with this during Cheer leading, they always told me to straighten my arms, I kept telling them I was, as you can see they are crooked!

If you did not think I was weird before, well there you have it!

What else? I hope everyone of you had a wonderful Mother's Day! I thanked my Mom for everything yesterday and apologized for driving her crazy, I was a wild child, Poor Mom! Did you ever think it was going to be this hard, this Mother thing? I was warned! God Bless you if you have more than one! I could only handle one, then checked out! I will leave you with a cute story about her:

We have been listening to the Eagles lately (you could not tell what I am by my playlist, I love it all) . Well my daughter gets in the car the other day and we started listening to "Heartache tonight"... and she tells me she doesn't like that song anymore and neither should I. I asked her why and she said that they talk about hurting each other . you know the part that says" somebody's gonna hurt someone before the night is through" she says "just listen Mom, at the beginning of the song........ see, and they don't even apologize" I started to laugh, but this is the best part...... she waits a while and then she says " Well I guess it's not too bad they do talk about having a party later" Ohhh cracks me up!!! she thought the song says "Gonna have a Party tonight"! too funny!  See Ya!

Packages going out today.....

This package is for My Mom, I cant spend Mothers day with her, but I am sending her a vintage candle holder for her patio with tea lights and a Bath and Body works Wallflower the Brown sugar Fig, have you ever smelled these? They are all through my house and Wow they are so yummy! I have been so busy planning a class at Mystic Paper in Downtown Mesa. If you have never been to this Store you just have to go! Ive been going in to Kim's Antique Store before she became a Vintage/Shabby Scrapbook store wayyyy back . She moved her store across the street and kept her Antique Store next door so it is combined! I can find cool Scrapbook products and go next door to find cool Antiques and Vintage supplies.... How cool is that?? It says Flea Market Studio all over it! I cant wait for my Buddy Mendy to come visit in June so I can take her there, she is going to love it! What else is going on? Grandma is still just hanging in there, and I thank everyone for all the support and e-mails Ive been receiving..... I just love my Blogging friends! Remember I told you I was spacey? Well I think the Post office is out there also, How could they have also missed this??? Did anyone see a address on the package? Nope not me...... a month later and boy did they stress me out! I pride myself on being on time on Swaps and sending them out ASAP well ..... Marylin e-mailed me and asked if I sent out Kari's book yet.....Ohhhh set me into panic mode...... but poor Kari, she thought her book was gone and she was so patient and sweet about the whole thing! I was positive it was coming back and yesterday ..... all I can say is KARI GETS HER BOOK BACK YAY!!  Now to tend to another mistake I have made, sending my new Round Robin's book to the wrong person, yup I am not all here and I apologize in advance for this! So here is Kari's package that is going out today! And All the pages I did and that I am finishing in the new Round Robin that we are in............ goodbye for now!

Happy Cinco De Mayo Amigas!

Not many people know this but I was born in Mexico. I came here when I was 5 years old. I have a huge Mexican/American family. None of the Mexicans in my family celebrate Cinco de Mayo, but all the Americans do. I celebrate because I am married to a gringo and he loves my culture, in fact he thinks he is Mexican. I have not been all there lately, My abuelita (grandmother) has been really ill for a year now and it has finally taken a toll on me. I realized this when I was walking the other day and just stopped and bawled my eyes out! In front of everyone not even caring what they thought. I feel kind of guilty celebrating when this has been a hard week, but I have to have some fun in my life to get throughout this tough time...... Yikes this is a downer blog today.......! I told myself that I was only going to put happy things on this blog. But I felt like getting it all out and thank you for listening! Now to the fun day tomorrow.... I am making Tijuana stand Tacos. What are they you ask? Carne Asada (beef) , tortillas, cabbage, radishes ,onions and fresh panela cheese. Yummy ! I am also making homemade beans. Having 4 families over to celebrate the day Mexico fought the French in Pueblo, Mexico and sent them back home. It is not Mexican Independence Day as everyone thinks, that is September 15. I had a full circle Moment  yesterday. I was at school  , bringing in the the pinata , beans and music. My daughter was wearing a Mexican dress , and as I was looking at her when a weird feeling came over me. I was back in my Kindergarten class in 1975. I went to a school where I was the only Mexican girl in the school. I barely spoke English. I loved my Kindergarten school teacher, Mrs Greeny! I would just hang around her at recess  and just stare at her. I wanted to be a teacher just like her!  Well I didn't have many friends because I was new and we did not understand each other. Well I think my teacher felt bad for me (not realizing I was happy just hanging with her). She brought in a Pinata, chips and tortillas to celebrate Cinco de Mayo!  She asked me to wear my special Mexican dress. Talk about feeling special that day! Here I am 31 years later......a Teacher and sharing things from Mexico with the students, while my daughter has on her Mexican Dress! What a feeling! What is your Full Circle moment?
