Filled up my Heart this weekend........

Remember when I said I had a fulfilling weekend last weekend? Well I found something that tops it. I was a mentor for  A DAY AT THE BEACH. My friend Patty is one of the co-founders of a organization called PS I love you foundation.  A day at the Beach is a Amazing Event where  200 at risk kids from local shelters and 200 volunteers spend a fun filled day playing games, eating lots of food, prizes and one on  one time at the Beach. I took Darianne with me. We pared up with a  Amazing 8 year old girl. They were holding hands  within 10 minutes of knowing each other. I could just cry. They were Best friends after a wonderful day I will never forget. Warms my heart beyond words. I try to do at least something for Charity or volunteer at least 2 times a year.. Sometimes Life just gets ahead of me..... but need to do this more. I am so lucky and so is my Daughter. I had to explain why we were there after the day. I don't know if she really understands........ I hope one day she will. XOXO

fulfilling weekend......

This is hanging on the front door..... thanks to the inspiration of Pam Garrison! My friend Alice made the sign on the right.... I am sure the same inspiration. This is the way I feel over such a fabulous weekend. You know the kind where you feel so fulfilled? Where you felt like you did so much, yet loved what you did.... Need more of these weekends. Friday night went to the Hollywood Bowl with my family for A NIGHT IN HAVANA . Love that place. You can bring your own Picnic with Wine and listen to some amazing music under the Stars. The next morning went to La Maison Rustique with Alice and Mary.... we loaded up the truck like Gypsies and went down to Temecula. So worth it, what a amazing place.... and the sad this is I cannot share pictures. I forgot my Flashcard!! Darn it! Great bunch of ladies, conversations, inspiration and of course shopping! These ladies are amazing...... that Barn...... well, can I just have it?  I will share these amazing chairs with you next week..... so inspiring! Met some amazing ladies, will post their Websites on my next post. One in particular just sticks out in my mind. We definitely could be friends...... and we both should have been born in the 1950's......... here is her site you just have to check her out for yourself!!  Her name is Cat  The Vintage Housewife . Love her style. I sure came home exhausted. Then on Sunday I had a little Party for my Husband's Birthday.... Cuban style. Told you he thinks hes Cuban! The only thing I didnt do was spend too much time with Darianne..... making up for it this weekend. Planning on spending the Day at the Beach....

Sick........

Went h0me from Work on Friday, felt like I had a little sore throat. Thought I could just go to sleep and wake up fine (which is what usually happens). Not happening..... I have never been in bed so long before....! My Brother in Law (thank goodness for him) prescribes some antibiotics. By the time I usually take them, they hit right away. Not this time....Sunday night the family treks on over to urgent Care.....the Strep has moved into my ear.... with the most painful ear ache! I get stronger Antibiotics, Pain killer and Ibuprofen.....Woke up Monday with a tummy ache... strong stuff my body doesn't like. So do you think I even tried to learn how to knit? Still in the box...... I will learn...... Someday. I guess this it is the Universe's way of telling me to slow down. I got the hint.  Still couldn't work Today....but did manage to get so much done........Re-stocked my ETSY. New things including the Silhouette Art Journals I meant to put up a while back. All this lying around made me come out of my Creative Slump. Ive been kind of in one for a while. That is until I started thinking about Halloween! My absolute favorite Holiday! My Art friends know how much I love this time of year... I have even thrown a Scrapbook Halloween party.... never got a thing done Scrapbooking wise, but sure had some fun! I also like throw a Kid Halloween Party every year. Last year was such bad timing. With the move and all. I have to make up for it this year. I just took out some blank tags, acrylics, brushes, walnut inks, stamps, ephemera and well SOMEBODY STOP ME! The Halloween Etsy Store will be open after the weekend, because I am a Seller at La Maison Rustique !  Well thats it for now......... feeling better.... You think?

I am back from a little blogging vacation

You know there are just sometimes when you need a computer break....well this was the perfect time! I needed a vacation from my computer.... Had lots of visitors, get-togethers, sunshine and just some good old fashioned hanging out time. Lots of Birthdays too. Here is a present for a sweet co-worker. One of my handmade journals and some goodies to go with it. My brother's Birthday was on the 28th. We are 1 year and 8 days apart...I know what you are thinking... what was my Mom thinking? anyways, I adore him and he just cracks me up. He also can pull a vintage shirt like no one else! So I had to hook him up with 3 vintage shirts. He also still spins records. Latin Jazz, funk, SKA, blues and so many other tunes. Found him some vintage Records and also a dancing hula girl for the car. I know he will love it. For my Birthday he sent me tons of vintage seam binding, a vintage book and some antique photographs. We just know what to get each other. Ive been also re-discovering my old neck of the woods. So happy to be here. So neat to have a daughter that will grow up by the Beach. I must have been away for too long to know that they sell Dodger Dogs at the Grocery store! I grew up going to the Dodger games and sure missed these dogs! I don't watch too much baseball, had no idea Manny and Joe Torre are now Dodgers. Might have to go to a game to see this for myself.. and to have a Dodger Dog of course.

I spent just a little time Thrifting, not much. Still thinking of my childhood, I scored on a set of I am Sam books from the 70's... I also found some vintage Readers and School Books for my Vintage Back to School ephemera Kits that are going up this week on my Flea Market Studio Shop. Can you all believe school is starting for people in AZ next week? I have to get used to this, we don't start till after Labor Day! Kind of weird. Anyways,  I also found this 1970's Pyrex bowl with a sunflower lid.....

Thats pretty much it for now. Pretty boring right? But wait. I could not leave without sharing a sweet story. Grandma came for a week form AZ. She spent a endless amount of time with Darianne. I still work here during the summer (summer Camp), so they had the days to themselves. They did everything together. Brushed teeth, washed their faces, ate breakfast and so on. I came to "their" room and found this picture on the nightstand. It is Grandma's Oil of Olay night and Day cream. Since Grandma cant read too well, Darianne labeled them for her........ just in case she gets them mixed up! Boy those two miss each other! OK, bye for now!
